Home Security Cameras

Home security camera
Every day you pick up a newspaper or surf the internet you see stories about home security cameras and the amazing video recordings they captured. Sometimes it is a delivery driver throwing the packages on the steps and other times it is the cute kitten being pampered by an adult dog. Regardless of the video captured, this new technology has become affordable and brings “safety” & “security” to their owners.

Let’s take a look at what is available today.

Indoor Cameras
Cameras that are built for the indoors have virtually no environmental protection but the cost savings are significant. Indoor cameras can see in low light conditions and the video can stream high-quality content. Today’s cameras provide video for applications like the baby’s bedroom or in common areas for the owner to “remote view” their premises in case of an emergency. Some now even have the capability to be remote controlled (PTZ) via a cellphone app or PC interface.

Outside Cameras
Cameras specifically built for the outdoors contain many components to protect them from the harsh elements. Heaters and ultraviolet protective housings are on the outside. Inside components can handle tough sunlight conditions and still be able to operate in low levels of the evening. The more sophisticated outdoor cameras even have infrared illumination allowing them to see in pitch darkness. These cameras are excellent for overseeing the perimeter of your property and areas like breezeways and porches.

Doorbell Video Cameras
The newest technology of the bunch is doorway cameras, better known as security doorbell cameras. As component prices fell dramatically the ownership of this security technology skyrocketed. The cameras are an excellent way to “see” who is at the front door without having to open it. You can also answer the doorbell from anywhere in the world as long as you have internet access. For additional fees, the video can be recorded to the cloud for later retrieval.

Recording Devices
Depending on your needs and budget, there are all types of video storage and capacities. Local storage or hard drives provide the cheapest and largest capacity solutions. The downside is you have to have a computer network and maintain your own equipment. Cloud storage allows the recordings to be stored off site but there is usually a monthly fee associated. Some cameras also have onboard video storage but the storage capacities are limited.

These are brief descriptions of the numerous home security camera options available. We encourage you to contact our security consultant so they can design a system that meets your needs and budget. In many circumstances, we can even set up an onsite demo absolutely free of charge. So call us today at 800-444-7231 for a free no obligation consultation.
